The hosts played the game recently at a pirate party, and apparently had a great time. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the whole show yet (the review appears within the first few minutes of the 97-minute episode) but the hosts (Stephen Conway and David Coleson) are funny and at ease behind the mic. It’s just like listening to a radio show with professional DJs and producers and stuff, but it’s all about games. Anyway, as Brian pointed out, it’s probably once in a lifetime that someone looks at your idea and wonders why no one ever thought of that before.

Turns out Dr. Tracy was able to take Rona a bit early, so we missed out on a little jam session featuring Little Peanut on percussion. Rona brought her iPod with the iTalk microphone attachment, however, and recorded The Boy’s impression of Gene Krupa riding a horse.

To help rectify this horrible situation, here are a couple .wav files of Zoey jabbering away like a madwoman. In this first one, she is sitting on my lap (thus the slightly better audio quality) and her two hands are in the sign for "duck" (technically the more generic "bird") with her thumb and forefinger forming a beak and her two ducks talking to each other. The high-pitched voice is the girl duck, and the growly voice is either a boy duck or Louis Armstrong, who’s singing in the background. Coincidence? You be the judge… (Click the poster.)

Everything’s going well still. Rona has a cold, and is totally miserable, wishing she could just take some cold medicine. After we talked with Dr. Bonnie about safe options (vitamins, minerals, fluids, rest, 5 colors of vegetables per day, and sock therapy*) we went into the exam room to listen to Zoey’s heartbeat.

The traditional confusion over the due date ensued, and then one of the midwifery students (I know I’ll remember their names by the time Zoey arrives) fired up her Doppler fetal heartrate monitor. We had brought along Rona’s cool little Sony MiniDisc Walkman and a microphone, so now we can share Zoey’s heartbeat with you! This is a little (30kb) 4-second MP3 file, so it should easily play via Windows Media Player or Real Audio, even for you modem-users. Let me know if you have troubles.

* Sock therapy, you ask? Dr. Bonnie said to put a pair of short cotton socks in icewater, wring them out, and then put ‘em on your feet. You then pull some thick wool socks over the cotton socks, and the heat from your head (assuming you have a fever or I suppose an unnaturally warm head) will be drawn down into your feet, for sweet relief. Rona mentioned that this was pretty cool, but I forgot to bug her about how exactly it worked for her.
