A couple (three?) weeks ago Cousin Evalynne and crew were in town shortly on their way to an Alaskan cruise. Rona had to teach that morning, but the kids and I headed downtown to meet up with the Long Island Cousins and Grandpa Robert and Grandma Barb. Zoey was having a bit of a cranky morning, so she and her cousin Delanie didn’t hit it off as well as they would have had they had more time together. We’ll have to fly out to New York some time and they can get to know each other better. I’ve just posted some photos to Flickr.

Last week was Brassapalooza, Rona’s summer day camp for young brass players. I’ve got the camp photos posted to the Brassapalooza 2007 Gallery. Grandma Arlene was kind enough to come hang out with us all week, to play with Zoey and help me hold down the fort while Rona was gone at camp and teaching each day. Here are some more photos.

The milestone of the week was that Zoey is now potty trained! She went from diapers all the time and the rare stint on the potty to Big Girl Underwear and no accidents over the past few days. She still wears a diaper at night, but it’s quite the relief that we’re not going to have to keep buying those big Costco boxes of the things at $30 a pop.

Keegan is doing great, and has taken to baby babbling. I’ll try to get a recording of him posted soon.

As if we didn’t have enough going on right now, on Sunday we took a day trip down to Portland to meet up with Grandma Evelyn, Grandpa Earl, Great Aunt Bev, Uncle Eric, Aunt Chantelle, and the four cousins. It was a fun time, and it was great to see everyone!

I’ve posted a photoset of our Portland trip to Flickr. Both kids were great during the long car ride, or at least that’s how I remember it now.

In other news, Steve and Karen, our awesome neighbors across the street, have some visitors from yesterday through the first of the year. Their daughter Diana and her daughter, Sarah, are here from Texas while Sarah’s daddy is deployed in Iraq. Sarah is just a couple weeks older than Zoey, and they both like princesses, ballet dancing, playing dress up, and going to the park. (Imagine that.) Yesterday Sarah wanted to come in and play with Zoey before she had even been inside her Grandma and Grandpa’s house. After they got settled in Sarah came on over for a playdate, and the girls had a blast. Today when Sarah woke up she asked her mom if Zoey was awake yet and could she come over to play. Quite a bit later (after both girls had gone shopping with thier mommies—separately) they met up for a playdate at our awesome local park, and once again much fun was had by both. They’ve got Sarah on the waiting list for our preschool and are already planning Little Gym and dance classes, so we’ve got a lot of fun times to look forward to over the next four months.
