Wow, Keegan, you are 4 weeks old already! Time sure does fly (once the baby has arrived, anyway). Let’s see, what have we noticed about you? You definitely are a much better sleeper than Zoey was. You are also a much better eater than Zoey was. She is still quite a dainty eater, in fact. So anyway, we are going to have to look for some local buffets when you get to be a teenager.
You are also starting to lose the baby hair you were born with. I was so excited to see it get just long enough to touch your ear and you actually get "bed head"! But, in the front, sadly, it is starting to go away. I am sure it will come back and be beautiful. Zoey had no hair for at least a year and then it started to grow in very, very slowly. And now she has a full head with curls! Yesterday she tried to give you some of her hair. You weren’t interested.
It has been very warm out these past few weeks. You are I are getting very sweaty. This will be a long summer. You are like a little heater. You will probably be dressed in your diaper only all summer.
You also love to be held. We try to hold you all the time, every minute of the day… But sometimes we do need to put you down for a few minutes and it would be nice if you didn’t wake up immediately and cry. We have been trying another nighttime strategy. This one we used when Zoey wouldn’t sleep. We are doing 5 hour shifts. Your daddy gets you from 9pm-2am and then I get you for the rest of the morning. I have been opting for hanging out on the couch and having you sleep on my chest. It seems you sleep better that way and only wake up to nurse every couple hours instead of every 10-20 minutes. What has been a pleasure for me is to wake up to the sunrise. It is a beautiful feeling, a content sleeping baby and the sun starting a brand new day.
You have already grown out of "newborn" size clothing. Even when you were a week old, there were a couple things you were already too big for. It cracked me up. I have been putting you into 3-6 month clothes and even a couple 6-9 month size things.
You are just starting to have longer and longer alert times. Well, times that you are okay just hanging out with your eyes open. Usually, when you are awake, you have been crying for more milk or wanting to be picked up and held.
You are doing great Keeg! Keep up the good growing and sleeping and pooping work you do so well!
Love, Mommy and Daddy and Big Sister Zoey
