Power was restored to our neighborhood at about 5pm tonight. That means the house was without electricity for 114 hours, if I did the math correctly. We’ve cleaned out the fridge and the big freezer, throwing out hundreds of dollars worth of spoiled or suspect food in the process. Sure, the fridge and freezer needed a good cleaning, but this is a rather extreme (and expensive) way to go about it. I’m going to look into the price of generators, but once we replace all that food we won’t be able to afford one anyway. Hopefully nothing like this will ever happen here again!

I’ve caught up on some work I’ve been unable to do the past five days, and it’s time to crash. Let’s see if I can bring myself to turn out the lights…
