Zoey’s first Trick-or-Treating experience went quite well. We went pretty early, what with the dark and the cold. We tried Steve & Karen’s house across the street, but they weren’t home. Next we hit Agnes’s house next door. Success! Miss Agnes was quite pleased to see Zoey, and seemed delighted when I told her that the candy in Zoey’s purple bucket was a plant and that the Milky Way bar Agnes gave her was her first actual Trick-or-Treat candy ever.

Next we hit Kaitlyn’s house (our neighbors across the back yard next to Agnes). We caught Kaitlyn’s mom as she had just got in the house, but she did have candy for Zo. We tried a couple more houses with no response, and then found two more retiree houses with candy-givers home.

Zoey was really cold, so she kept alternating between saying, “Go back home?” and “‘Nother house!” We hit one last house, a family that moved in after we did with an almost-two-year-old. Zoey got her last bit of loot, and we whisked our cold ballerina back home.

We did up a tasty Trader Joe’s frozen cheese pizza (hand-made and baked in a stone oven in Italy and sold for just $4 each) since it was easy and probably the only thing we could give Zoey that would trump “lolly pop!” which means any kind of candy in current Zo-speak. And since you’re really just here for the photos, behold:
