It’s Friday and the Fridge Broke

I thought something was weird when I tried to get some more water from the fridge dispenser and nothing happened. The light was on, but no water came out. The dishwasher was running so in my tired brain, I thought that maybe they are on the same water pipe or something. Well, this morning, I tried it again and got some ice out but no water. The ice was kinda melty, too. Uh oh. Yep, me thinks the "make-it-cold" part is busted. The motor runs, the lights are on… but things are mighty warm in there. Nothin’ like looking at a melted fudge bar that is sitting in the freezer.

So, we transfered the freezer stuff to the downstairs freezers and the fridge stuff to the downstairs fridge in laundry baskets down the stairs.

Now, the fridge and freezer is all cleaned out and awaiting a repair tech. I called Sears and talked to 6 different people to solve 2 issues. The first was to see if this fridge was still on warranty… nope. Though I found out it was purchased in 1999. The second was to purchase a service agreement for $219 (plus tax) so that the repair tech can come out and it would cover everything including parts and labor, which I figure might be a good deal. If in fact, the bill comes out to be less than $219… I can cancel it and get a refund for the difference. The part B of this (which was my initial intention) was to get the repair tech out here pronto… That took about 45 minutes to get to this step. And in fact, they can’t come out until tomorrow. Oh Boy! After I was done being extremely pissed off, I am okay with it since we do have an extra fidge and freezer. I just can’t believe it takes that long for them to show up! Okay, I really am letting go now.

On the bright side, we did have a lovely conversation with Daddy this morning.

We are going to take off and go for some shopping therapy.
