We’ve posted before about how the view from the back deck of our new house took us by surprise once the clouds cleared away. Gorgeous sunrises and a sweeping view of the Cascade Range, including Mount Baker—what more could we want?

Well, last night was the Fourth of July, and we returned home from our Oregon Coast vacation (more on that later) to discover we had an incredible 180° view of both private and official fireworks displays from Lynnwood to Kirkland. We set up the tripod for the camera after trying out some (of course) blurry hand-held shots, and not only did we get some great shots of fireworks, we also captured several with lightning as well! I’ve created a Flickr set of the fireworks shots with lightning, so please check it out. (And Mom and Dad, I guess you’re off the hook about the lightning every time we’re in Portland—clearly we brought it with us!)

Murphee didn’t like the thunder/fireworks combo, but Zoey slept through the whole amazing display.

Oregon was a blast, and we’ll be posting a whole bunch of vacation photos, so stay tuned!

  1. Kate and I were watching the lightning strikes from Jess’s place. Everyone kept asking how it was that we two knew just where to look to see the lightning. Something in the Lindroos genes I guess. It was pretty spectacular.

  2. Whata great 4th! I’m glad you had an opportunity to do the Oregon Coast; I look forward to hearing/seeing your travel diary. Lou

P.S. French fries, one of my favorites which I rarely eat now since most fast fooders use trans-fats, for which the safe level is ZERO. Have you found a French fry purveyor who does NOT use trans-fat containing oil in their preparation?

  3. Hey Lou, I’m sure that fast food fried fries are full of nasty stuff (including sugar), but at home we bake up Alexia oven fries [http://www.alexiafoods.com/product_main.php] which are delicious and trans-fat free, and come in a variety of flavors.
