Zoey was a little doggie for Halloween this year. We ended up doing a Halloween weekend. On Friday evening, we drove over to the Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center where they were having a carnival for tots 5 and younger. We got there nice and early and looked at all the games she could play. She first went for the "duck pond," which was a plastic pool filled with floating ducks that you were supposed to have to pick up with a grabby-tool thing. Well, Zoey just went in and picked a few up with her hands. I am surprised she didn’t just climb on in to take a bath. :-)

She checked out the beanbag toss games and the funny looking teenage kids who were in charge. At one point, she went into this draped off area that had a gypsy fortune teller. She came back out and didn’t want to go back inside. hmmmm.

We found a table that had lots of coloring pens and paper to color. We chose a fun pumpkin picture and she had a good time drawing all over it with lots of different colors. We also went into the hay maze. That was fun, especially because it was only about 2 feet tall. We still ended up stepping over a wall or two somehow. Then it started to become busy, and Zoey was getting pretty tired, so we went home.

On Sunday we went to Northgate Mall and walked around a bit. It was good to be able to run around and be able to scream without disturbing anyone. Oh, and Zoey was squealing, too. :-)

On Halloween day, we had preschool. That was FUN! The kids were in their costumes and playing. We painted pumpkins and put handprints on a fundraising sign (to use this upcoming weekend to sell wreaths. Not much time left, want to buy a wreath? Only $22! Cheap! Lasts for months! Looks beautiful, smells like the holidays!). We played with baby dolls, books, trucks, and balls. We had storytime and sang songs. Preschool is so much fun!

Then, Halloween night, Evan took Zoey to Central Market for their Halloween Carnival. I met up with them after about an hour. They had hay rides and games and lots of prizes inside the store. We got a piece of this HUGE cake. I gave Zoey a small bite and then immediately she decided she really, really liked it and stopped meandering on her own path, turned around toward me and opened her mouth like a baby bird asking for more, more, MORE! We let Zoey run off the sugar and went home. We had trick-or-treaters within 30 minutes of getting home and turning on the porch light. We only had about 10 this year. I think it was less than last year, although I don’t remember much of last year.

I think it was a good first (well, technically second) Halloween. She wasn’t scared of any of the costumes or people. It was a good time.

Pictures are soon to come. Speaking of pictures, once we get our groovy new camera, we will be starting to do a picture of the day. (Really!) I am planning on learning how this camera works and want to take tons of pictures. So, my sweetie will set it all up and you will be able to view it daily! We still have about 4 rolls of film to process here, so lots of pictures to come.

On another note, I am about to head into the dentist this afternoon much to my disappointment. It seems I have been clenching my jaw and gripping my teeth together when I sleep. (A little stressed?) Well, last time I went to the dentist, they had to fix a cracked tooth that I couldn’t even feel. Well, as of two days ago I can now say I can feel it. I think I cracked it again or it is another one. I can’t recall which one they fixed. I am working on fixing the problem–I am going to see a craniosacral therapist/massage practitioner and I had more acupuncture done already. This is so strange to me, to wake up with your mouth and jaw throbbing in pain. I think we need new pillows, too.

On a brighter note, I am happy to report that Zoey is in process of taking a nice long 3+ hour nap. I am grateful for the little things. :-)
