I just posted five images from a photoshoot we did at Babies ‘r’ Us in Portland back on June 19. They’re in Zoey’s Gallery. I’ll post links directly to the photos in case you see this after we post a bucketload of new photos in front of these like we like to do:

Last night Shandra came over to babysit and Rona and I went to the Cinerama to watch Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, aka Episode Three, aka Phew! Having tossed my hopes out the window after seeing Episodes 1 and 2, I was quite surprised and pleased with how good a movie this was. This one I want to see again, and want to get the DVD, rather than thinking I should get the DVD in order to have the complete set to watch with Zoey when she’s old enough. It was nice how a bunch of plot elements were explained or tied together, and it gave me a weird sense of closure–weird since it came in the midst of the epic story, and 28 years (!!!) after I saw the first, er fourth, movie. Back when I watched Return of the Jedi for the first time (1983) I thought the story was over, and it felt satisfying. Eps I & II, as they were for so many Star Wars fans, weren’t satisfying at all, to put it mildly. Perhaps in ten years or so George Lucas will completely redo Ani the Menace and Send in the Clones in Special Editions with new scripts and no Jar-Jar. I’d watch those.
Favorite Jedi Logic Moment: "Only a Sith deals in absolutes…" (Er…)
After the movie we grabbed some to-go food from Larry’s Market, along with some quite tasty Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce. Then we headed home so I could give Shandra a ride home.
As we were driving over to her parents’ house (they only live a few minutes away) I asked if there had been any peeps out of the Wee One. Apparently Zoey woke up and cried for about 15 minutes while Shandra waited to see if she would go back to sleep. Finally she went in to see if Zoey needed anything. She did a great job, picking Zoey up, turning on her music, and singing to her. She put her back in the crib, and Zoey pointed to her blanket, at the end of her crib. Shandra got it, and Zoey lay down and pointed next to her–Shandra put the blanket there. Then Zoey seemed to mime holding up a tent with her hands, so Shandra put the blanket over her. Next Zoey pointed at the end of her crib, where all her stuffed animals hang out. Shandra grabbed the Yellow Duck puppet and gave it to Zoey, showing her the ASL sign for "bird." Zoey proceeded to settle down and drift off to sleep, and didn’t wake up again until the morning. Maybe we should hire Shandra as a toddler interpreter as well as a baby sitter… We’re very impressed with the communication between those two!
