Grass: The grass is coming in nicely, along with some little sprouts of the Evil Groundcover we killed to plant the grass. I’ll have to dig up the evil bits and leave the grass.

Apples: The PowerBook is only making use of 512 MB of RAM instead of the 1024 MB that is physically installed in it. Googling around and searching on the Apple support forums have led me to determine that the computer most likely needs a new logic board. Getting this fixed will be free, but it will cost possibly 2 calendar weeks or longer without the laptop. This would make us a one computer family (I have several PCs stacked up in the garage, but no monitor). I’ve been making due since discovering the problem, doing my best to not open Thunderbird, Firefox, Acrobat, Photoshop, Word, BBEdit, and other programs at the same time, as I tend to do. That missing memory makes a big difference. I should both visit the Mac Store where I bought the machine and call Apple Care, but am putting off doing either.

  1. Try contacting the Mac Store
Service Dept. on 45th near the
    freeway in the U-District. They
    may have shorter repair times,
if the logic board is in stock.

    Love, Dad
