Zoey’s first birthday party went off without a hitch. The only real problem is that we don’t happen to have built the addition on the back of the house that includes the really big family room, and thus don’t have quite enough room for 21 guests, the three of us, Murphee, and Lulu the Bonus Dog. But most of those I could see through the throng looked at least mildly amused at least some of the time, and Little Z and her Chick Posse had a blast.

We ended up taking a lot more video than photos, so we’ll have to wait until we have the Mac and then put up a movie showing Zoey eating her first wheat, sugar, and dairy all at once in her piece of white chocolate cake with lemon filling and buttercreme frosting. I thought we had at least taken some digital stills of the cake before demolishing it, but alas–I just looked on the memory card and found no photos.

The cake, from Mike’s Amazing Cakes, was indeed amazing, both visually and, uh, tastually. We are definitely now more than settled up with Mike’s Amazing Cakes after the Great Wedding Cake Fiasco, and still recommend them to all. Apparently Mike is no longer in charge of (not) delivering the cakes, so the cake arrived an hour before scheduled.
