Whew! We are back home and have lots of new stuff from Grandma Evelyn and Grandpa Earl and Aunt Bev! Including a brand new Char-Broil Big Easy Gas Grill!!! It has a 30,000 BTU output, a cast iron griddle and 764 sq inches of cooking surface. It even has places to hold the cooking utensils and bottles of sauces. Okay, and we got some really great stuff for Zoey, too. :-)

So, let’s see… to recap: My Christmas gig went really well despite the record 3 hour rehearsal the night before with tons of new music. On Christmas Eve Day we had lunch with my Dad at the food court in the Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park. I forgot that soooo many people are still shopping on Christmas Eve. Then, we headed back to send Murph along with Grandpa Robert and Grandma Barb for the weekend. (Thanks again you guys!) The house was so quiet without her.

Zoey and Evan were troopers as they came to my gig. The organists had a dinner party in between services, so Evan and Zoey came to that, too… well, after a little car nap for Zo. Zoey got to play with Alex, 5. That was very fun to watch. Zoey is intrigued by little kids now.

They took off and went home and I stayed for the 10:00pm mass. I got home around midnight. We tried to pack the day before we left for Portland, but it just didn’t work out. It took almost three hours to get ready and go on Christmas Day. But, we are really diggin’ our "new" Thule roof rack carrier! It holds a lot of stuff! We are buying it from my student Eric’s Dad.

We drove and drove and made it to Portland in 3 1/2 hours. Lots of rest stops. Not too much traffic. Christmas Day at the Sasses in Portland was filled with food, fun and presents! Zoey did get some really cool stuff. She got a leapfrog activity center that makes all kinds of sounds and she can stand herself up next to it. Also a Baby Van Gogh DVD, which she totally loves! And oh, so much more!

End of Part One. Zoey needs a nap. Look for Part Two soon!
