Yes, yes, officially Zoey’s first word is Da Da. Although, just a note here, she did say ma-ma-ma-na-na about two months ago. But, for the record books, Da Da it is. YAY! Since we haven’t blogged in quite some time, I will try to recapture everything that has been going on around here…

It was my sweetie’s birthday last Thursday. We celebrated by going to Noodle Ranch in Belltown (YUMMY!!!)for lunch. We went to the North Bend outlet mall and got some cool new shirts (and a few things for Zoey, too) and then rounded out the day with a trip to Jalisco’s in South Park. Deeeelish!

Zoey’s latest new food includes green onions (we learned it is a good teething food) and really isn’t that onion-y when you chew on it like that. Also, we gave her nectarines, bananas, squash, and yogurt. So far everything is good with her–no allergies.

Evan’s parents were in town for the birthday weekend. It was a great time! They did a little Zoey-sitting for a while and Evan and I went out on a date. We ended up missing the movie we wanted to see, The Bourne Supremacy. We will see it one of these days. It was a very nice evening, though. Then it was chili and pizza on Saturday for gaming. (I was teaching for part of the day.) On Sunday we went for a road trip to Bellingham to see the sights. We went up kinda early, and were just going to drive by Grandpa Lou and Rachel’s new house. We knew that they had Rachel’s sister and her husband in town, so we didn’t want to intrude. But, as it happened, we saw Lou walking Dandy, their Pomeranian, and so we were invited in for coffee. It was very enjoyable. (Thanks, you guys!) We drove around and saw the Bellingham sights. We ate at Espinoza (by the REI) with a tortilla chip and salsa bar (YUMMY!). Highly recommended. I believe it will become a regular place for us.

Let’s see… Backing up some more… A week ago, my dad had a mild heart attack. It was a scare and very strange to see him in a hospital. But, he and Barb caught it very early, so it was mild. He was in generally good spirits and was giving all the nurses and docs a hard time, so I knew he was his old self. I am very grateful it was mild and he can become completely healthy in time. He has already lost 5 pounds in one week! Way to go Dad!

Last Friday we did the little photoshoot for Zoey. Evelyn and I took her to Babies ‘R’ Us. We hadn’t done that before. It was really fun! They have the cutest props. The little chairs are so short! Anyhoo, it seems that babies can only be naked if they are younger than 9 months. After that they have to wear at least a diaper. For the one where she is sitting cross-legged in the chair, the photographer had to keep crossing her legs. It was kinda funny. And in the wagon, she kept chewing on the handle. It was a great time.

Her teeth are moving right along, with her two bottom front incisors poking out a little more, and her top right incisor poking out even more. Her left top front tooth is taking its own sweet time. We’ve seen it peek through a couple times, but then her little gum swells back up and the tooth nubbin is gone once more.

One of her latest tricks is grinding her little front teeth together. Ew! That makes our skin crawl.

She is crawling around more and more, and likes to pull all the CDs she can reach off of the shelves. What fun!
