Wow, September came so quickly! I am sitting among the Saturday gamer group sans Angela, who had to work today, and they are starting a Mutants and Masterminds game. [Rona's note: It is a riot to hear them talk about superheros and their powers along with comparisons and what's better to have, etc., all while watching a OSU Beavers game on tv while little Zo is sleeping in the other room.] Too funny!
Okay, let’s catch up on the past week… Zoey had two more swimming lessons. Grandma Arlene came down for the Monday lesson and cheered her on. Zoey did some good kicking and water swallowing and licking the “noodle” floaty thing. On Wednesday, she learned to do an almost crawl stroke! Evan put a floaty toy in front of her in the water and he held her in the water belly down and she kept trying to grab it with her hands. It totally looked like she was doing the crawl stroke.
We also had our home appraised! It came back higher than I expected. So, yay, no more PMI! This is step one in Bellingham, Ho! We have been trying to get the yard under a little bit of control. It got a bit wild there for a while. One of my student’s mom is helping us with chopping down the photinia in the front yard. And thanks to Grandpa Al, we now have power tools! Okay, just one. An electric chainsaw. We haven’t used it just yet, but that is very exciting.
I have also been getting ready for teaching in Kennelly Keys at their Northgate and Lynnwood stores. I’m also going to be doing some coaching for Kenmore Jr. High. I am very excited about that! Please think good thoughts for lots of students needing my help this year!
Zoey is still almost crawling… She is now interested in our cds. She likes sweet potatoes and even fed herself while watching some Baby Einstein without much mess. We gave her some green beans a couple days ago. She wasn’t super excited, but didn’t spit it out either. Next on the menu is a nectarine.
She still has not gotten her top front two teeth in yet. Her gums are getting a little bit more red and swollen. So, new teeth anyday now. We unofficially weighed her last night and she is 20 pounds! Woohoo!
This weekend we have been going to garage sales to see if we could find a gas grill and a George Foreman grill. Let us know if you find one of these! So far, all we have gotten is a new crib sheet with eighth notes on it for a dollar and 5 cds (classical — mostly Yo Yo Ma, cello) for $7. Zoey needed some more Beethoven and Mozart.
And the last Superhero quote is “I am immune to darkness”. This will be a very entertaining group for the next several months.
Happy Labor Day weekend!

Rona, I enjoyed reading your blog. Glad you’re still thinking “Bellingham Ho!”
