We had a good trip to see Dr. Tracy. We talked about Food and Sleep. And we got a Hib shot. It was nap time, too. Zoey was not a happy girl. However, her stats are:
Weight: 18 pounds, 1.5 ounces… still in the 90th percentile.
Height: 25 1/2 inches
Head circ.: 42 1/2cm
Way to go! She is right on track with weight. She is about double her birth weight in six months.
We talked a lot about food. She has no teeth yet, so we are trying to wait. However, she can have water now. We gave her some water in her sippy cup. She made such a face! Maybe cause it was cold. But, she drank it! Not much, just a couple sips. So, we can give her about 6 ounces a day. (If you take 1/3 of your body weight in pounds, that number is how many ounces of water you should have per day.)
Her first food, as suggested by Dr. Tracy, will be avocados. Yummy! Then, after four days of avocados, perhaps some yams. No fruit or anything sweet yet for a while. So, we may try some avocados before teeth, but we are really trying to wait. Thanks for being patient all you grandparents out there! The other foods on the first list are:
Quinoa cereal mixed with breast milk, yams, carrots, broccoli, sprouts, beets, squash, apples, pears, bananas, and avocados.
Her sleeping has actually improved a bit over the past two days. We revisited the sleep book and made a sleep plan. Zoey must have heard us, cause she is making a difference. She is just about to do a lot of stuff like sitting up and crawling, so, we think that is keeping her from sleeping soundly, too. We are working on being patient.
