On Sunday, we went down to Seward Park for a baby party. Evan’s friend Jacob and his wife Benjamina just had their 3rd baby, a beautiful girl named Eliana. Bright red hair all sticking up. She was so cute! This party was done in traditional Jewish manner — tons of food, lots of people. The place was bustling with activity. Zoey was just loving it! She was held by many, she watched all the other kids playing around, and she was just fascinated! I figured she would want to take a break and nurse or take a nap — but, no. She was as content as could be. “What a mellow baby” was one comment. Ahhh, Zoey is most certainly a people-girl.
On Sunday afternoon we put in the air conditioner. Sweet nectar of life! AC is the best! Our bedroom has a wonderful climate all unto itself. We hoped that the air would come out and cool the whole house, but I don’t think that worked too well. We do have a small house, but maybe the AC is just too far away. It makes wonderful white noise, too, but Zoey still is waking up every 1-2 hours all night long. Gone is the nice 3-hour 10-to-1ish sleep session I had grown to count on. But she is still growing a bunch. And there are the beginnings of swollen bumps where the teeth nubbins will be!!! Teeth are a-comin’!
We had a wonderful dinner last night on the deck. Zoey was being very sweet and mellow hanging with us in her “throne”, the chair that we put on top of the picnic table. We had such a peaceful 30 minutes or so with the sun just beginning to set and the bees were elsewhere and we got to eat without any crying or much ball playing. Ahhh. We had grilled some marinated chicken, made from a Mediteranean dry spice mix from our friend Nicole (Thanks Nic!) which I mixed with lemon juice and soy sauce. It sat in the fridge overnight then onto the grill. YUM! Evan made some garlic green beans in the wok and leftover potato salad completed the tasty meal.
An interesting thought — Zoey is 24 weeks old, yet her 6 month birthday is not until July 12th. When people say my baby is 6 months old, is she 6 months or 24 weeks? hmmm.
