A definition of white noise is: “mixture of sound waves extending over a wide frequency range that may be used to mask unwanted noise that may interfere with sleep”… Well, we went to Sam’s club last night to buy an air conditioner. Yes, it is now needed in our home. It just gets too darn hot and then little miss Z can’t sleep. And you know, we don’t want that! Anyhoo, Sam’s Club is going through some remodeling and there was “some” construction going on. When we headed to the back of the store, we heard jack-hammering and oh, so much more. We could barely hear each other talk, it was so loud. Well, one look at Zoey to see if it was hurting her ears and lo, and behold, she was sleeping quite contently. wow. Maybe the new air conditioner will provide even a hint of some jackhammer noise for her quality sleeping pleasure.
Today, Zoey is 164 days old or 23 weeks. wow. We handed her a plastic spoon yesterday and she did very well on putting the scoopy part into her mouth and held onto it for quite a while! Great hand-eye coordination! We also have been giving her a carrot for teething on. She does this cute thing where she licks it first. Then she is willing to teeth on it. Hmmm.
Food is coming soon! We were told from Dr. Tracy that she has to be able to sit up on her own, be able to spit stuff out on her own, be at least 17 pounds [check. 17 pounds .04oz at last visit] and have teeth. They say that when she has teeth, the stomach will have the correct enzymes to digest properly. So, we have two of four, I’d say. She can sorta spit stuff out. We give her teething tablets that sometimes she can spit out. The teeth are coming, too! We don’t have the swollen gums yet, but, we can see that they are oh, so close. And the sitting up part… well, not yet. She can flop back on her back or forward head to toes. We are working on it. She is getting lots and lots of floor time on the playland mat and using those back muscles. She can scoot backwards and she can turn around. And has the beginnings of crawling. She does great pushups! Or, upward dog for those of you yoga people. And she has very strong arm and leg push offs when you are trying to hold her and snuggle. so, the food thing… we are at least waiting until her 6 month appt which happens on July 13th. Maybe she will have teeth by then.
