Ahhh, it was a hard day today in the land of Zoey. Perhaps it was that her sleep cycles are light and not more than an hour or so at a time. Her naps are 45 minutes to an hour in length. Perhaps it is that her eating is voluminous and often. Perhaps it is those little helpful tools called teeth. Those little beautiful nubbins of enamel just inching (centimetering?) from their place inside the gums, growing closer and closer to the edge, to cut through and become useful rather than painful. Ahhh, the pain. Chomping down on her fingers does the trick in a pinch. Chomping down on mommy’s and daddy’s fingers works nicely too. The several teething rings and “hammer of the gods” teething well, hammer, I guess, would do the trick nicely if only she could hold onto them for longer than a minute or so.

Perhaps mommy is eating too much sugar (and yes, it was really good!), perhaps it was the nap from which she got rudely awakened when the nice cushy van ride stopped, or perhaps it was the caffeine mommy had (not very much, really!!). Perhaps it was a combination of all of the above and perhaps it was just a hard day.

One Response to “The cries of Z”

  1. Oh man, that’s just the way Kate was, and it was SO hard. Zoey remind me of Kate: alert, full of movement, wanting to sleep little and eat lots. Evan asked me about teething last night, and I had to look it up in Kate’s book. Teething from 6 months to 10 months, ug.

I sincerely hope that Zoey’s sleep schedule sorts itself out faster than Kate’s did, but if it doesn’t I can at least say that I know exactly what it’s like and you have my sympathies.
