Important Note: If you are one of our many parents, now is not the time to check the ferry schedule or peel out of the driveway. I suggest instead you get some sleep, which is what Rona is trying to do, in light of … this evening’s regular (about every 7 to 9 minutes), 1-minute-ish long contractions! We will call you, O Parents, when it is time for you to head on up or over or down to meet your granddaughter. In case we didn’t get around to mentioning this to any of you, we will just have the Official Birth Team here for the birth, and we’ll let you know when Visiting Hours start. Go ahead and pack a bag now, if necessary or if that will make you feel better, and then get some sleep! :)

We first called Susan, our friend and doula. After asking pertinant questions and staying on the phone with Rona through a couple contractions, she suggested that now was indeed a very good time to give our midwives a page.

Doctor Bonnie called back right away after I paged her, and after talking to me and then Rona for a while, agreed that this indeed seems to be the start of early (a.k.a. latent) labor. Woo hoo!

Since this stage can take many many hours, we’re going to (try to) get some sleep. We’ll keep you posted! (Though no promises for more blogs until I can post baby pix. We’ll see…)
