I am finally feeling a lot better! Wow, that is the longest cold I have ever had! Oh, how I miss taking herbs or other medicine for fighting viruses. Evan’s cold, of course, lasted only a couple days and was not too bad. So, he mostly took care of me.
Fun News: Last night Evan set up Zoey’s crib! It was given to us by Susan and Tristan Goldman (and their kids, Prydwyn and Aiavel). Hardly used! It is beautiful! It is oak and up to all the codes for everything. Susan even gave me sheets for it! Thanks you guys!!! So, what is a fun treat is to see it during the night when I get up for nightime bathroom runs, and think — "oh yeah! Pretty soon we will have Zoey here!"
Daddy: Craving: Pepperoni Pizza
Working: Encarta, Green Ronin
Doing: Cleaning up the office and garage to make room for the Zoe-ster
Wanting: Time to play computer games
Mommy: Craving: Nothing really at all, just making sure to eat something every couple hours before the food crash hits.
Working: got my students and reiki/craniosacral clients coming back for more
Doing: cleaning up loose ends and errands and things I can do without lifting stuff. Taking naps and drinking lots of water and tea to make sure the end of this cold goes away.
Wanting: To be able to bend over to clean the bathtub, to be able to lift stuff to clean the garage, and to sleep without the tissue box next to my head.
Zoey: Doing well. It seems she likes Daddy to talk to her and will kick and poke and roll around, but stays quiet for Auntie Junko and Grandma Arlene. hmmmmm. We are now at about 27 weeks. Here is the scoop from American Baby.com:
From Week 26 (last week):
"There’s an important development in your baby’s lungs this week: They begin to secrete surfactant, a fatty substance that covers the inner lining of the air sacs and allows the lungs to expand normally so breathing can occur. Although it will be approximately 10 more weeks before the lungs are fully operational, the production of surfactant is an essential step in making the fetus viable outside the womb."
From Week 27 (this week):
"Your frisky fetus is on another growth spurt, shooting up half an inch this week to measure about 14 inches from head to toe. She weighs roughly 2 1/2 pounds, and will gain approximately half a pound each week for the next 10 weeks. The average full-term baby weighs about 7 1/2 pounds and measures from 18 to 20 1/2 inches, but many normal, healthy babies fall outside this range. Unless your practitioner has told you of a potential problem, it’s safe to assume that your little one is right on track."
We have our childbirth classes starting up on October 27th for 5 weeks. YAY! They are put on by our docs and are geared toward home births, but include a topic called: "What if we go to the hospital after planning a home birth?" So, we are all covered.
