It has been a while since the last pregnancy update, so I shall share the latest…
Had a good visit with the docs last Tuesday. We have now settled a bit more on the original due date of January 23rd on account of being able to hear the heartbeat through the fetalscope. It seems that you have to be at least 20 or so weeks for that to happen. YAY! The next time we visit we promise to bring a recording device of some sort to record the heartbeat and have a wave file available. It is so cool!
We also talked about how the body processes food and why it is important to eat protein at every meal. Yeah, I had not been eating at the right times and then I would completely crash. It is kinda like a sugar crash only worse and more often. So… after learning more about it… I have been eating about every two hours (!) sometimes lots of food (like a cup of kefir, plus a banana, plus a bowl of cereal, plus some crackers at 2am) and sometimes just a handful of raw, unsalted almonds or a hard boiled egg. And now I feel like I am back on an even keel. (Yar.) It is strange to eat when you don’t really feel like eating, but much better than trying to out from under a food crash. So, a great learning lesson for me!
I also found at Trader Joe’s these yummy crackers called TLC or Tasty Little Crackers made by Kashi who makes the cereal. We got the cheese ones and the plain 7 grain ones. They are really good! Better than cheese nips and they don’t even taste like they are good for you! Yet, they are. ahhh. I highly recommend them.
So, other Zoey news, according to the ultrasound report, as of back on the 3rd, she was .91 pounds and heart rate of 140 beats per minute. “Single living intrauterine gestation, currently dated at 21 weeks 1 days by composite parameters… The fetus is currently in variable lie, the placenta is posterior without previa (a good thing!). No abnormalities evident on standard fetal evaluation.” So, this makes us, according to this report, as of today : 22 weeks 3 days.
From American Baby.com: “Hair today, gone tomorrow? Your baby develops two kinds of hair in utero–the soft, downy body hair called lanugo, which generally falls off before or shortly after birth, and the hair on her head. Many parents are surprised (to say the least) to see their baby’s hair at birth–blond couples often have black-haired offspring, dark ones are just as likely to deliver a little blond or redhead, and parents who have tight, wiry curls often produce babies with soft, loose ones. The bottom line seems to be that birth hair–or lack thereof–bears little resemblance to your child’s “real” hair. The birth hair generally falls out by the time the baby is 6 months old, to be replaced by a more logical set of tresses.”
Wacky.
Daddy: Evan has been working a bunch. He went in early today so that we could hang out with the Hesses tonight. We are going to see Hal Holbrook doing Mark Twain at the new McCaw Hall in the Seattle Center. Prefaced by a delightful dinner at Tim Tup Thai up the street. Yummy! It should be a very fun evening!
Murphee: She is snoozing and snoring on the couch. I have been taking her out to run and play ball much earlier in the morning these days (6am) since school has started and with the cooler weather, she is nice and relaxed all day long — until Daddy gets home, then it’s yippee! Time to play ball!
