We have the ultrasound analysis back from the midwives, and everything looks good! Interestingly enough, although Rona’s uterus is a little larger than expected, the baby is normal-sized for the original due date, so the official due date hasn’t changed from January 23rd, 2004. Plus or minus 2 weeks. This means that Week 15 probably doesn’t really start until tomorrow. Ah, well–I guess we’ll know what’s up in January…
So although the due date is still a slight mystery, there were other things revealed by the ultrasound:
Placenta: In a good position (posterior) which means it won’t get in the way. This is good.
Cervix: Closed and normal length. Good.
Amniotic fluid: Normal volume–good.
Baby: Looks great! Heartbeat was 146 b.p.m.–good.
It’s perfectly fine that the uterus is a little larger than expected. According to Doctor Bonnie, "Every pregnant woman breaks one ‘rule’ of pregnancy." Rona already got that out of the way, so it’s smoooooth sailing from here!
