We had our second appointment today with our Naturopathic Doctor Midwives (ND/LM), Bonnie and Tracy. They’re super nice, very organized, and all business. They tag-team, taking turns seeing us each time we come in. They were referred to us by Doctor Faith Takakura, our N.D. (who practices NAET allergy desensitization–if you’re allergic, go get treated, and dump the Allegra!).
Anyhoo, based on the size of the baby (or more specifically, Rona’s uterus) they suspect now that we’re more like 16 weeks along, not 12 like we thought. Another possibility could be twins, but we’re holding out for the One Baby But Quicker scenario. We’re getting an ultrasound on Friday to find out just what’s going on in there.
Experienced the coolest thing today, that made Rona and me both laugh out of joy (and nervous relief)–Dr. Tracy put the Doppler on Rona’s belly, and we heard our baby’s heartbeat for the first time, pounding out over the speaker. Little kiddo has quite the ticker! Astute readers might think back to the aforementioned Twins Possibility and point out that we only heard one heartbeat, but apparently it’s nigh impossible to hear multiple baby heartbeats at the same time with just one Doppler, so that’s inconclusive. Nice try, though.
I’ll update the Week X Snapshot once we know what week we’re actually in…
